The Belize Flats Fishing Association (BFFA) is guided by a dedicated board of directors made up of experienced fishing guides, conservation advocates, and community leaders from across Belize.Together, they bring years of knowledge, passion, and commitment to protecting our nation’s flats ecosystems and promoting sustainable livelihoods for coastal communities.
President
Eworth Garbutt
Eworth was born in Placencia Village and has been an active conservation leader and steward for over 25 years. He is currently a fly fishing guide in Placencia and owns Eworth Marine.
Vice President
Michael Peralta
Michael was born in San Pedro and has been guiding for seven years at El Pescador Lodge & Villas. Michael enjoys making memories on the flats with guests that eventually turn into great friends. He enjoys teaching people how to cast, have fun and appreciate what Belize offers.
Secretary
Jorge Rodriguez
Jorge was born in San Pedro and has been guiding for over 10 years years. As a dedicated Christian, Jorge gives GLORY to the Lord and Savior JESUS CHRIST for being in the beautiful country of Belize .He currently guides for Blue Bonefish Lodge & Villas.
Treasurer
Dennis Garbutt
Dennis was born in Punta Gorda and has been owner of Garbutts Fishing Lodge along his brothers that guide for fly fishing. He has served for many years in several committees and board member of several groups.
Chair-Person
Chris Leeman
Chris was born in Iowa and grew up in Oregon, where his passion for fly fishing first began. In 2019, he moved to the beautiful country of Belize — a place known for its exceptional guides, incredible fishing, and some of the most pristine flats in the world.
