Honorary Members
Thank you to each and everyone of our Honorary Members. These individuals have dedicated their lives to the Belize Fishery and have made a career of flats fishing or conservation or training. Their dedication to the cause represents the backbone of our flats community!
An Honorary member is any member of the flats fishing community upon submittal of the required completed application who has dedicated his/her life to this area and has made a career to flats fishing or conservation or training. Has no voting rights and cannot part-take in decision-making.
Apprenticeship Member
BFFA would like to recognize our apprenticeship Members. Individuals who are currently training under the direct representation of a guide, outfitter or lodge. These young motivated members are the future of our fishery. With passions for conservation and advocacy we can count on these members to ensure a healthy fishery in the future!
What is an Apprenticeship Member?
Shall be a part-time or full-time person who is being trained and sponsored by a Guide Member or Fishing Lodge. Has no voting rights and cannot part-take in decision-making.
Permit can be found throughout the Belize flats and are a preferred target for many conventional and fly fishing anglers. The protection of this vital species must be a priority to ensure the longevity of the tourism and fishing industry within Belize.
Guide Member
BFFA would like to recognize our Guide Members. Individuals who are currently employeed by a lodge or work as a freelance guide within the Belize Fishery. These individuals are active in the community and uphold all rules and regulations. They are energetic conservationists and work hard to ensure the fishery of the future.
What is a Guide Member?
Shall be a flats fishing guide that works for a fishing lodge or is an independent fishing guide (freelance guide). Has voting rights and can part-take in decision-making if part of the Board of Directors. The following are requirements to become a Guide Member:
Associate Member
BFFA Associate members have taken an active stand to support the fisheries throughout Belize. We would like to recognize each one below and thank them for their continued financial support and progressive advocacy throughout the community.
What is a Associate Member?
Shall be an individual or a non-profit organization. Has no voting rights and cannot part-take in decision-making. There shall be two sub-categories of an Associate Member.

Individual Associate Member. Shall have its name in the Belize Flats Fishery Association’s website if they so desire. Has no voting rights and cannot part-take in decision-making.

Non-Profit Organization Member. Shall have its logo displayed in the Belize Flats Fishery Association website, outreach activities and acknowledged once a year if they so request during an event such as annual meetings. Has no voting privileges and decision-making.
Business Member
BFFA Business members have taken an active stand to support the fisheries throughout Belize. We would like to recognize each one below and thank them for their continued financial support and progressive advocacy throughout the community.
What is a Business Member?
Shall be any entity such as a fishing lodge or private business. Shall have its logo displayed in the Belize Flats Fishery Association website, outreach activities and acknowledge once a year if they so request during an event such as an annual meeting. There shall be two-sub categories of a Business Member:

a) Fishing Lodge Member. Shall have all of its fishing guides listed under the said Fishing Lodge in the website at the sole discretion and specifications of the Fishing Lodge. Each fishing guide shall be a Guide Member, shall have voting rights, and can part-take in decision-making if part of the Board of Directors. Additionally, the Fishing Lodge owner is granted a voting right and can part-take in decision-making if part of the Board of Directors.

b) Private Business Member- Has no voting rights and cannot part-take in decision-making.
